What this site does
pancardphotoresizer.in resizes the photograph, signature and supporting documents needed for an Indian PAN card application, so the files match what the NSDL and UTIITSL portals will accept: a photograph under 50 KB and a signature under 20 KB, both as JPEG.
How your files are handled
Every image is processed inside your own browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. Your photograph and signature are never transmitted to our servers, because there is no upload step at all — the resizing happens on your device. We therefore cannot see, store, share or recover any file you work on here. Closing the tab removes it from memory.
This is a deliberate design choice rather than a policy promise. People using this site are handling identity documents, and the safest way to protect a file is to never receive it.
Why we built it
The NSDL and UTIITSL portals enforce strict limits on file size, format and dimensions, but the errors they return rarely explain which of those rules was actually broken. A photograph can be comfortably under the size limit and still be refused because its proportions are wrong or the file is a PNG that has simply been renamed. People end up compressing the same image repeatedly without ever addressing the real cause.
The tools here apply the correct format, proportions and file size together, and the guides explain what each portal error usually means in practice.
Accuracy of our guides
The file specifications quoted across this site reflect the published NSDL and UTIITSL requirements at the time of writing. Government portals do change their rules, so we treat the official portal as the final authority and correct our pages when we find a discrepancy. If you spot one, please tell us and we will check it.
What we do not do
We are an independent tool. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the Income Tax Department, Protean (formerly NSDL e-Governance) or UTIITSL. We do not submit PAN applications, we do not charge for anything on this site, and we never ask you to create an account or provide personal details in order to resize a file.
